DESCRIPTION: Service Pilots wore Service Pilot wings and did the test flights and ferried aircraft to the front lines in WW2. This group belonged to John Francek. It has his initials in the cap. Bought from his estate in California. He was a helicopter test pilot after the War until he had a crash. It should not be too difficult to get some more information on him.
The group consists of jacket and shirt with all insignia, garrisson cap, tie and cloth aviator cap. The jacket with belt and shirt are theater made, probably in India, and are khaki cotton. The warrant officer rank bars are handembroidered in silk directly onto the uniform. Both have Service Pilot wings directly embroidered onto them, one with a yellow S, the other with a black S. Both have theater made unassigned Army Air Force and China-Burma-India Theater Command patches. The caps and tie are standard U.S. issue.
This is a really neat group and one like this will probably not come along again!
CONDITION: Excellent.
